More Sweaty Hands!
Every biker loves the summer; whether
you’re a hardcore all year round type of rider, or just a weekend racer you
will definitely start to get excited when the temperature rises and the wet
weather eases off just so slightly. UK summer time can be unpredictable but you
can be sure that the temperature will be higher than usual and sometimes pretty
humid, which means one thing for the bikers who are still in their winter
gloves… sweaty hands!
I am not affiliated but if you are in need of new gloves I have always used LDMotorcycles.co.uk for mine as the owner is a old pal.
Having sweaty hands on your bike can be uncomfortable, and could cause you to have less control over your bike due to this uncomfort. Which is why when the temperature rises above around 15 degrees it is a good idea to get yourself a good, reliable pair of summer motorcycle gloves for the many miles ahead of you this riding season.

Things
to Consider
If you are one of the all year round bikers
that was mentioned earlier, you’ll know all too well how thick and heavy winter
motorcycle gloves can be, which is why you may feel a little sceptical when
selecting your new summer motorbike gloves as summer gloves are generally a lot
lighter and the material between your hands and the controls is a lot thinner;
therefore picking the right material is always a good start. The most popular
material for summer gloves is leather, as the material can be thin enough to
all your hands to cool, yet offer great abrasion resistance in the event of a
fall, with most leather motorcycle gloves also featuring double layered palm
sections and knuckle and finger protection, in the form of either TPU or steel
plates.
If you are not a fan of leather gloves you
can looks for a cool textile alternative which will offer similar abrasion
resistance, and may be constructed of a high tech fabric which allows the hand
to breath and cool off whilst you ride.
Most summer motorcycle gloves will feature
some form of ventilation system whether it be on the back of the fingers, or in
the knuckle section. This ventilation can be a real help on hot days, as the
driving air can enter your gloves and efficiently cool your hands, keeping your
focus on the road ahead, and maintaining comfort.
Size
Selection
So you have your new model of summer bike gloves selected, and now it’s just the question of which size to go for! All manufacturers will have their own size charts, and you should make sure you have seen this before ordering online, and should have tried the sizes on if buying in store.
When buying leather motorbike gloves it is a good idea to consider that leather is a natural material and will slightly stretch after some use which will provide you with a nice fitted feeling as it will mould to the shape of your hand whilst you ride. Therefore, if a pair of leather gloves feels slightly tight it is good to keep in mind that after a few rides they will probably fit you perfectly.
Textile materials are of course man made, and therefore are designed not stretch or change shape throughout their life, which is why it is a good idea to make sure that your textile gloves are a good fit from the first time you wear them!
I hope this helps answer any questions you had about your new summer motorcycle gloves, and you are ready to select your next pair and hit the road!
